Japan Paper hal’s accessories are meticulously handcrafted using traditional Japanese Chiyogami paper, also known as Origami paper.
Chiyogami, an art form created by skilled artisans in small workshops throughout Japan, including Kyoto, is made by hand, with each sheet showcasing vibrant dyes and delicate patterns applied individually by experienced craftsmen.
The designer has collected over 300 sheets of Chiyogami from workshops and retail stores across Japan, and this collection of Chiyogami continues to grow. These Chiyogami papers are transformed into accessories using high-quality resin and glass, resulting in our unique collection.
Each sheet of Chiyogami is slightly different, and when cut, it becomes a one-of-a-kind accessory. Therefore, every piece is unique, and no two are exactly the same.
The individual patterns add to the uniqueness of each accessory, so the piece you receive may differ slightly from the photos, adding to its charm.
Additionally, the Chiyogami is completely encased in resin or glass, making it resistant to water and skin oils.
The traditional patterns printed on Chiyogami reflect the timeless wishes of people throughout history. Examples include “Shippo-tsunagi,” symbolizing expanding connections, “Seigaiha,” representing a desire for a peaceful life, and “Kagome,” believed to ward off evil.
By wearing our Chiyogami paper accessories, you can experience the elegance and artistry of Japanese culture, where tradition and modern style intertwine harmoniously.
Japan Paper hal offers earrings, necklaces, and rings made with 14K gold-filled (14KGF) posts. This material involves bonding a layer of gold to a base metal (usually brass) under high heat and pressure. To qualify as gold-filled, the gold layer must constitute at least 1/20th of the total weight, including the base metal.
Compared to gold plating (gold-plated: gp), the gold alloy layer in gold-filled jewelry is 20 to 30 times thicker. The combination of heat and pressure used to apply the gold alloy ensures a durable coating that resists wear and retains its shine over time. This allows you to enjoy the genuine brilliance of gold at a much more affordable price compared to solid gold.
As previously mentioned, the gold layer in gold-filled jewelry is significantly thicker than that of gold plating, making it highly resistant to peeling and exposure of the base metal. This characteristic reduces the likelihood of metal allergies.
However, individual reactions to metals can vary. We regret to inform that our gold-filled jewelry may not be suitable for those who have experienced allergic reactions to 10K gold or similar materials in the past.
For customers with severe metal allergies, we also offer earrings with surgical stainless steel posts, which are known for their hypoallergenic properties.
Additionally, for those without pierced ears, we provide clip-on earrings. Our clip-on earrings feature comfortable fittings designed to minimize pain and discomfort (made of alloy, non-hypoallergenic).
Our goal is to offer various options for earring posts to ensure everyone can enjoy our products without significant financial or physical discomfort.
The materials used in Japan Paper hal accessories (resin, 14kgf, alloy, freshwater pearls) are sensitive to sweat and water. To maintain their beauty and longevity, please gently wipe off any sweat or oils with a soft cotton cloth or a cloth used for cleaning glasses after wearing.
If you notice any dullness or scratches on the resin, we offer a resin reapplication service. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
We also provide a service for replacing the hardware on clip-on earrings.
